Salesforce Net Zero Cloud Technology for a Sustainable World

19 Jul 2024

Amid the global warming situation, the world is focusing on controlling the increase in the average global temperature to not exceed 2 degrees Celsius, aiming ideally for no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels, according to the Paris Agreement. Countries worldwide have announced targets for carbon neutrality and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.

Thailand has announced its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065. Achieving these targets requires the cooperation of everyone, especially the business sector, which has high potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, many businesses are starting to adapt to demonstrate environmental responsibility and achieve Net Zero, leading to sustainable business practices. This movement is also driven by external pressures, such as investor expectations for Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) adherence, environmental friendliness, and good governance. In Thailand, the Stock Exchange of Thailand has established SET ESG Ratings to provide investors with information for making investment decisions and requires listed companies to disclose ESG operations in form 56-1 or One Report.

Additionally, changing consumer behavior, expecting more environmentally friendly products and services, maintaining a good business image, and international trade measures like the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) are factors pushing businesses to adapt to maintain competitiveness.

In the challenging transition of businesses toward Net Zero, technology plays a significant role. One such technology aiding in achieving this goal is Salesforce Net Zero Cloud, designed to help companies monitor and manage greenhouse gas emissions more effectively.

Net Zero Cloud enables companies to systematically gather data on greenhouse gas emissions from various sources within the organization, allowing for easy analysis and reporting. This facilitates informed decision-making and planning of measures to mitigate environmental impacts more comprehensively and systematically.

Several companies worldwide have adopted Net Zero Cloud to support sustainable operations. For example, Schneider Electric uses this service to manage greenhouse gas emission data and plan effective reduction measures. Similarly, JetBlue Airways uses Net Zero Cloud to analyze and report environmental impacts from flight activities, enabling them to plan and improve operations for greater sustainability.

Using Salesforce’s Net Zero Cloud not only helps companies manage greenhouse gas emissions better but also contributes to creating a more sustainable world.
